Cargohaus launches waste management project

Year:
2010

Cargohaus, a pioneer in cargo handling and modern warehousing industry in the Philippines, unveils its Integrated Management System project called OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) during the Lina Group of Companies PEP day on the early morning of 4 October 2010. The event is called “Basura Ko, Kargo Ko”.

“We must build a culture of excellence”, says project head Rene Reyes during the launching of OHSAS.

OHSAS, along with Environmental Management System, is under the Integrated Management System that Cargohaus is currently under the process of accreditation. This is also in line with the Republic Act 1903, or Ecological Solid Waste Management of the Philippines, that ensures health and environment, waste segregation, and volume reduction among others. It also calls for the responsibility of sorting and segregating solid waste in various sources explained Joana Alba, Customer Service Manager of WARM.

A ceremonial unveiling of trash bins labelled with biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable was presented by Cargohaus President Rudy G. Fulo to LGC Chairman Alberto D. Lina and Mrs. Sylvia P. Lina.

Along with the launching of OHSAS this October, Cargohaus is also celebrating its 22nd anniversary on October 11 and is looking forward to launch its tracking features in its new website and billing system connected to the Bureau of Customs.
